Artistic Statement My creative process has been shaped by my life long fascination of the integration of science and art. I am dazzled by nature’s beauty, the genius and whimsy of her inventiveness and the elegance of form that evolves from her blueprint for survival. Using my 5X magnifying glass or dissecting scope, I explore that which fascinates me like the structure of growth in sea shells or plants, the the delicate fluting on a mushroom, a lilac bud seen through a microscope. I endeavor to capture some essential essence, be it a glint of light, or the curve of a line, that will evoke a feeling of the whole, the simplicity and latent power of nature’s design. Creating abstract, metal sculpture evokes both the artist and the engineer within me and integrates the scientific inquiry and artistic expression that I find so enlivening.
